The New Jersey Devils just placed forward Marc McLaughlin on waivers with a clear plan to send him down to Utica if he clears. McLaughlin, who bounced between Boston and New Jersey last season after that midseason trade, signed a cheap two-way deal over the summer but couldn't crack the NHL roster amid stiff competition up front.
